There is a lot to consider when purchasing a hot tub or swim spa, and at Life’s Great Hot Tub Company our mission is to help our customers understand how to keep their spa running smoothly. After 10 years in the business, we’ve heard nearly every question there is! We’ve compiled a list of the most common questions about buying a hot tub and their answers.
How much do hot tubs weigh?
The dry weight can range from 400lbs – 6,000lbs depending on the size of the spa or swim spa. Filled weight would depend on the water level and the number of bathers. You can place a spa on a deck when they are properly reinforced. Spas are often placed on decks, patios, crushed compacted stone, or pre-made spa pads.
How often do you need to change the water?
Depending on your sanitizing system chosen, you need to change water anywhere from 1-3 times per year!
What chemicals are needed for a spa?
Basic hot tub chemicals you should always have on hand include sanitizer, products to adjust overall pH and alkalinity, and a sequestering agent to remove heavy metals.
How long will my hot tub last?
A typical hot tub or swim spa can last anywhere from 5-20 years. Lower-quality spas won’t last long, especially if they are not well maintained. High-quality hot tubs or swim spas that receive excellent care can be enjoyed for as long as 20 years or more!
I am moving, can I take my hot tub with me?
Unlike inground pools, hot tubs and swim spas can travel with you wherever you move! We recommend hiring professionals to ensure your spa is properly transported and cared for.
Do you deliver?
Yes! We are happy to deliver and provide hot tub maintenance within our service area, which includes Albany, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, Queensbury, East Greenbush, Clifton Park, Malta, and other surrounding areas of Upstate NY!
When can I use my hot tub following installation?
As soon as your spa is full and up to temperature, you’re ready to hop in!
How hot do hot tubs get?
The federal mandate on all spas in the US is 104 degrees maximum temperature.
What are the requirements for installation?
The requirements for spas are different depending on the spa model. All spas need a stable base such as a deck, patios, pavers, compacted stone, concrete, etc. Also required is a 220v or a 110v electrical connection, depending on the model.
Do I need a Spa Cover?
All spas from Life’s Great Spas come with a winter-grade spa cover.
